Breast Clinic: The Triple Assessment Approach

Finding a breast lump can be distressing, but over 85% of breast masses are entirely benign conditions such as fibroadenomas or simple fluid cysts. Dr Mebin Mathew employs the gold standard Triple Assessment:

1. Thorough clinical breast examination.
2. High-resolution breast ultrasound or mammography.
3. Fine-needle aspiration (FNAC) or core needle biopsy if indicated.

Thyroid Surgery: Goitre and Nodules

The thyroid gland regulates whole-body metabolism. Solitary nodules or multinodular goitres (enlarged thyroid) require systematic ultrasound risk-stratification (EU-TIRADS) and hormonal profiling. When indicated for compressive symptoms, cosmetic concerns, or suspicious cytology, Dr Mebin performs meticulous hemithyroidectomy or total thyroidectomy with preservation of the recurrent laryngeal nerves and parathyroid glands.
